The Competition and Consumer Agency has signed commitment agreements with traders to eliminate alleged violations of the law

In May, the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency signed commitment agreements with eight traders in various sectors in favor of consumers.


According to the agreement signed between the Agency and the traders, the vendors - "Excel Electronics", "iTrader", "Delfos Group", "iSTYLE", "Selene", "Oneprice Retail Group Georgia", "New-Optika + - 20" and trader Elsa Tsulaya - were instructed:


-         To change the company’s internal policy and comply with the requirements of the law;


-         Comprehensibly and fully provide the information to a consumer defined by the law in the national language of Georgia;


-         To provide a clear and understandable indication of the selling price of the goods;


-         To establish clear guarantee conditions in accordance with the law.


-         To develop the conditions for the withdrawal from the contract and the procedure for introducing it to the consumers.


According to the Agency's decision, and the agreement the trader was given a specific deadline to change the trade policy and to restore the allegedly violated rights of consumers.


For information: According to data from January to April 2024, the 18 facts of  violations of the rights of the consumer group were confirmed. The Competition Agency signed 46 commitment agreements in favor of the consumer on 50 cases. Due to non-fulfillment of the obligation imposed by the Agency, 14 traders were fined 11,300 GEL in 19 cases.
