A meeting was held in Gurjaani for the protection of consumer rights

On March 12, during the II International Consumer Rights Protection Week in Gurjaani, representatives of the Competition and Consumer Agency, the National Bank of Georgia, the National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission of Georgia, the Communications Commission, the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia, and the National Food Agency met with consumers.


The event was opened by Davit Songulashvili, Chairman of the sectoral economy and economic policy committee of the Parliament of Georgia; Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the Competition and Consumer Agency; Davit Narmania, Chairman of GNERC, and Davit Onoprishvili, Chairman of the State Insurance Supervision Service. Giorgi Machavariani, Mayor of Gurjaani Municipality, and Giorgi Aladashvili, State Commissioner in Kakheti region, both delivered speeches.

The meeting was held in a question-and-answer format, with officials from six regulatory bodies reviewing in depth with the participants the obtained results in the direction of consumer rights protection, challenges, and enforcement mechanisms.


Within the framework of the week, the planned meetings continue, which will be held on March 14 in Kutaisi, and on March 15 - - in Batumi, on International Consumer Protection Day. The main objective of this week, which is planned for March 11-15, is to raise public awareness regarding consumer rights.
