A discussion of the Agency's institutional development strategy was held with the participation of GCCA employee

The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) organized an external working meeting for its employees. The meeting aimed to discuss the Agency's institutional development strategy in order to enhance its efficiency following the expansion of its mandate and the addition of new functions.


The document outlines the strategic directions of the GCCA for 2025-2027, assesses compatibility and challenges with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, strengthens the main areas of GCCA's activities, improves mutual cooperation at international and local levels, and includes other important details.


The meeting was opened by Irakli Lekvinadze, the Chairman of GCCA, and his deputy Levan Kalandadze. They discussed the results, ongoing reforms, current challenges, and strategically important issues for the future along with the employees of GCCA. Levan Kalandadze emphasized the significance of team building for exchanging information in an informal setting and strengthening communication among employees. Additionally, a detailed discussion was held on the document developed by the working group, headed by Salome Kavtaradze, the Head of Legal Department of GCCA, and Irakli Turmanidze, the Head of the Administrative Department.


For information: In 2022-2024, the Agency underwent several changes. In 2022, the Law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights came into force, leading to the creation of an authorized department within the Agency for enforcement purposes. Amendments were also made to the Law of Georgia on Competition, and a new statute of the Agency was approved, refining its functions and duties. The structural units of the Agency were updated, and a new training research center was established. In 2023, the Law of Georgia on Electronic Commerce was adopted, designating the Agency as the executive body for its enforcement.
