GCCA and UN WOMEN organized a meeting with women in Zugdidi to protect consumer rights

On October 11, a working meeting was held in Zugdidi to raise awareness regarding the protection of consumer rights, strengthen the legal status of women, and improve awareness. The meeting was jointly organized by the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) and the United Nations Women's Organization (UN WOMEN).


Sergo Sanikidze, Head of GCCA's Consumer Rights Protection Department, Tsitsino Shengelia, Director of the Democratic Engagement Fund of the United Nations Women's Fund's local partner opened the meeting and addressed the participants. The discussion took the form of a dialogue,  with Oliko Kobakhidze, GCCA's representative, providing thorough explanations and practical examples concerning the legal basis of the law, the standards set by the Agency, consumer rights, and trader obligations.


As part of the first national strategy for the protection of consumer rights, the meetings with women were held in Kutaisi,  and Zugdidi,  on October 15, the meeting scheduled in Akhmeta.
