GCCA and UN WOMEN organized a meetings with women in Regions to protect consumer rights

To raise awareness regarding consumer rights protection, strengthen the legal status of women, the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) and the United Nations Women's Organization (UN WOMEN) jointly organized working meetings with women living in Kutaisi, Zugdidi, and Akhmeta.


The meetings were conducted in a question-and-answer, dialogue format. During the meetings, the GCCA representative, along with women from the region, explained the legal foundations of the law, the standards established by the Agency, how to protect their rights, whom to contact in case of violation, consumers rights and traders obligations. Practical examples were used to illustrate these concepts.


Sergo Sanikidze, the Head of the Consumer Rights Protection Department of GCCA, led the meetings. Representatives from local partner NGO’s of the United Nations Women's Fund also participated. Additionally, workshops with women and other target groups will be held in the future as part of the first national strategy for consumer rights protection.
