GCCA concludes investigation into alleged consumer rights violation by „Meama“ with a Commitment Agreement

The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency has concluded its investigation into an alleged violation of the Law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights by „Meama” Ltd, through the execution of a commitment agreement.

The case originated from a consumer complaint concerning the purchase of a coffee capsule from a Meama device, where the consumer reported that the product was not received despite payment being deducted. After unsuccessfully seeking reimbursement from the company, the complainant approached the GCCA for assistance.

During the investigation, Meama Ltd. proposed a set of conditional commitments aimed at remedying the alleged violation. Following a comprehensive assessment, the GCCA determined that the implementation of these commitments would eliminate the risk of a potential breach of the law. Accordingly, the investigation was finalized with the signing of the commitment agreement.

Under the GCCA’s decision, „Meama“ is required to: Revise its internal policies to ensure full compliance with legislative requirements; Develop a clear and comprehensible information provision form in the Georgian language; Indicate the selling price and unit price of products and services in a transparent and accessible manner; Clearly formulate warranty conditions; Restore the rights of consumers whose interests may have been infringed due to non-compliance with legal obligations.

“Meama“ has been granted a one-month period to implement these commitments.
