From 13 to 15 November 2025, Georgia will host the IV International Conference on Competition and Consumer Protection.
The conference will bring together senior officials from 18 countries, representing national authorities in the fields of competition and consumer protection, alongside delegates from leading international organizations, including the World Bank, UNCTAD, OECD, ICN, ICPEN, and Consumers International. Together with representatives of Georgia’s regulatory institutions and leading experts, participants will discuss key issues in competition policy, modern practices in consumer protection, prevailing challenges, and the activities implemented by regulatory bodies in these areas.
The three-day event is jointly organized by the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency, the National Bank of Georgia, the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia, and the Communications Commission. The conference aims to strengthen the principles of fair competition and promote the exchange of best international and local practices in the field of consumer protection.
The agenda will feature nine panel discussions, including three international sessions and the presentation of a sectoral study. The panels will focus on a range of timely and relevant topics, such as: The role of competition policy in regulated sectors of the economy; Modern approaches to protecting vulnerable consumers; Consumer protection in the digital environment; Merger control in the context of the global policy agenda; Balancing innovation and regulation; The role of cross-border cooperation and international organizations in strengthening consumer protection.
The discussions will involve representatives of the executive and legislative bodies, public authorities, academia, and the business community. Overall, the conference is expected to bring together around 250 delegates and up to 50 distinguished local and international speakers.
Within the framework of the conference, partner authorities will sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at deepening international collaboration and strengthening institutional ties.
The International Conference on Competition and Consumer Protection has been held in Georgia since 2022. The previous conference brought together delegations from 12 countries, featuring more than 50 speakers and over 300 participants. The 2024 conference included six thematic sessions and two international panel discussions, with active participation from organizations such as ICN, UNCTAD, OECD, the EU DG COMP, and the EU DG JUSTICE.
