The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency has published its consumer rights protection results for the 11-month period of 2025.
Over the first 11 months of 2025, the Agency received 1285 applications and handled 4610 calls, representing a 62% increase in applications compared to the same period last year.
During the reporting period, the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) identified 160 violations of consumer group rights in 260 cases. Due to non-compliance with obligations imposed by the GCCA, 75 traders were fined in 120 cases, with total penalties amounting to 122 083GEL. For consumer protection, 147 commitment agreements were signed in 163 cases, where traders committed to modifying their internal business policies and restoring the rights of affected consumers who suffered due to unfair business practices. Of the applications submitted, 65% concerned online transactions, while 35% related to in-person purchases. Regionally, Tbilisi continued to account for the largest share at 80%, followed by Adjara and Imereti with 5% each, Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli with 2% each, and the remaining regions comprising the balance.
Based on 11 month data, the demand for a refund is 409, the repair or replacement of defective items is 428, 227 for restoring the right to a defective service, ensuring delivery of goods within the stipulated period 98, 37 related to the prohibition of misleading practices, and the rest is 86.
According to the statistics, 73% of the applications related to the wholesale and retail sector, followed by transport and warehousing with 10%. The arts, entertainment, and recreation sector accounted for 5%, while the remaining 12% concerned other types of economic activities
