The Steering Committee of Georgia’s National Consumer Protection Strategy has approved the Strategy’s 2026 Action Plan. The Action Plan aims to ensure the effective protection of consumer rights, provide timely and appropriate responses to emerging trends, and ensure alignment with international standards and best practices.
Within the framework of the Committee meeting, participants reviewed key developments, prevailing practices, and existing challenges in the field of consumer rights protection at both the national and international levels.
Committee members emphasized the importance of further strengthening consumer protection mechanisms, enhancing the legal and institutional framework, raising consumer awareness, and improving regulatory practices across various sectors. Particular attention was given to the continued need for effective interagency coordination and the further development of international cooperation.
The Steering Committee comprises representatives of public authorities involved in consumer rights protection, including the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency, the National Bank of Georgia, the National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission of Georgia, the Communications Commission, the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia and the National Food Agency.
