Salome Kavtaradze, Head of the Legal Department of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), attended the international seminar titled “Reconciling Public Support and Competition Policy: Strengthening Economic Resilience in Accession Countries”.
The seminar, held in Vienna, was jointly organized by the World Bank and the Austrian Federal Competition Authority. It convened senior officials from competition authorities of various countries, representatives of European Union institutions and national public bodies, as well as leading academics and sectoral experts.
Discussions focused on fostering an effective balance between competition and industrial policies. Thematic sessions addressed the role of state support in driving economic transformation and facilitating EU integration, emphasizing the enhancement of institutional mechanisms for state aid management, the significance of inter-agency coordination, and the alignment of national regulatory frameworks with EU standards and best practices.
The seminar also provided a platform for participants to exchange practical experiences, share insights on existing challenges, and highlight exemplary international practices, thereby contributing to the advancement of robust state support and competition policy frameworks.
