GCCA conducts educational outreach meetings in Tbilisi Public Schools N173 and N133 on “How to Become an Informed Consumer”

The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) organized educational meetings at Tbilisi Public Schools N173 and N133 under the theme “How to Become an Informed Consumer”.

During the sessions, representatives of the Agency engaged with students on the fundamental role of competition in a market economy and discussed key practical considerations that citizens should take into account when purchasing goods and services. The discussions aimed to promote a better understanding of informed decision-making and responsible consumer behavior.

Special attention was devoted to core consumer rights, traders’ legal obligations, and the significance of maintaining fair and effective competition in the marketplace. The meetings were conducted in an interactive format, encouraging active participation and dialogue. Students were provided with practical guidance on issues such as the appropriate course of action when an online purchase does not meet expectations, applicable timeframes for returning goods, and the competent authorities to which consumers may обращаться in the event of a dispute.

The initiative is implemented by the GCCA Training Research Centre in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The project forms part of the Agency’s broader efforts to strengthen consumer awareness among young people and to foster a culture of informed and responsible market participation.
