Representatives of the Consumer Protection Department of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) participated in an international conference entitled “Protecting Consumers in the Digital Age: AI and Dark Pattern Detection”.
The conference was organised by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection of Poland (UOKiK) and focused on addressing emerging challenges related to the protection of consumer rights in the digital environment.
The discussions addressed, inter alia, the practical application of artificial intelligence in the field of consumer protection, including methodologies for the identification, assessment and analysis of “dark patterns”, as well as advanced technological tools for their detection. The exchange further explored the integration of AI-based solutions into enforcement practices. Particular emphasis was placed on the legal and ethical considerations arising from the deployment of artificial intelligence in consumer protection frameworks.
The GCCA delegation was composed of Amat Amarovi, Deputy Head of the Consumer Protection Department, Nini Tsabutashvili and Ketevan Chumburidze, Chief Specialists within the same department.
The event brought together representatives of competition and consumer protection authorities from various jurisdictions, alongside participants from international organisations, academia, and the technology sector.
