In order to identify potential concentrations subject to mandatory prior notification and to ensure the effective enforcement of competition legislation, the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency GCCA initiated proceedings in respect of two concentrations implemented in the first quarter of 2026.
During the reporting period, a total of 4093 concentrations were registered in Georgia. Of these, 4,072 cases did not meet the criteria that would give rise to the obligation of prior notification. A further 21 transactions were assessed as concentrations meeting the applicable turnover thresholds, thereby giving rise to a potential pre-notification requirement.
Of these 21 cases, 19 fell within statutory exemptions provided for under the competition legislation and were therefore not subject to a notification obligation. In the remaining two cases, the available information indicated a potential breach of the obligation to notify the concentration prior to its implementation. Accordingly, the GCCA initiated proceedings to examine these transactions.
In 2025, the GCCA approved 18 concentrations. In 2026, as of the current reporting period, the Agency has approved 5 concentrations.
