Giorgi Kedelidze, Head of the Strategic Markets Monitoring Department of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), attended the international conference entitled "European Competition Day", held in Nicosia, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus. The conference was organised by the Commission for the Protection of Competition of the Republic of Cyprus in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event brought together representatives of the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Court of Justice of the European Union, as well as heads of competition authorities of Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Cyprus, and other countries, judges, experts, and leading specialists in competition law.

In the framework of the conference, participants deliberated on contemporary challenges in competition law and policy, reviewed enforcement practices within the EU Single Market, and addressed the future priorities of competition authorities.

The panel discussions covered the following principal themes: Abuse of Dominance: Modern Challenges and Future Guidelines; trends, challenges, and emerging developments in merger control, and the practical application of EU competition law. Particular attention was devoted to the impact of market concentration, price increases, supply chain dynamics, and pricing mechanisms on the competitive environment. Participants further examined the adequacy of existing legal instruments to address the structural challenges presented by modern markets.

The conference aimed to foster the exchange of experience on current issues of competition policy, to promote the discussion of best practices, and to deepen professional cooperation among competition authorities across participating jurisdictions.
