Irakli Lekvinadze meets Acting Director General of Consumers International in Geneva

As part of a working visit to Geneva, Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), accompanied by Sergo Sanikidze, Head of the Consumer Rights Protection Department, held a meeting with Stephen Hall, Acting Director General of Consumers International.

The meeting afforded an opportunity to explore possibilities for deepening international cooperation in the field of consumer protection and for advancing joint initiatives between the two institutions. Discussions also addressed the priorities set out under Georgia's ICPEN Presidency for 2026-2027, as well as prospective formats for future cooperation.

Particular emphasis was placed on the high-level international conference to be held in Tbilisi in September of this year under the auspices of the ICPEN Presidency, which is anticipated to convene representatives of consumer protection authorities, international organisations, and expert communities from close to 80 countries worldwide.

The parties further stressed the importance of sustained coordination among international partners, the exchange of best practices, and joint efforts to address emerging challenges in the field of consumer protection, including those relating to digital markets, artificial intelligence, and cross-border enforcement.
