www.ekalata.gov.ge expands to 14 supermarket chains and introduces new functionalities-savings calculation and price change monitoring

The information portal www.ekalata.gov.ge, established on the initiative of the Government of Georgia, has been joined by a new supermarket chain, "Ambari". In addition, the platform has introduced new functionalities that enable consumers to calculate potential savings and monitor price dynamics on a monthly basis.

www.ekalata.gov.ge enables consumers to compare prices across various retail chains within a single platform, thereby supporting informed decision-making in the purchase of preferred products. The portal currently features 14 retail chains: "Agrohub", "Ambari", "Carrefour", "Daily", "Goodwill", "Gvirila", "Kalata", "Libre", "Magniti", "Nikora", "Ori Nabiji", "Spar", "Universami", and "Zgapari".

Consumers are able to compare prices for 13 basic food products and 10 basic non-food consumer products.

The savings calculator functionality enables consumers to determine their potential savings on the basis of price comparisons across retail chains. According to August data, the aggregate savings recorded by consumers amounted to GEL 2 265.5, with average savings per retail chain amounting to GEL 161.82. By this indicator, "Carrefour" was the leading supermarket chain in August.

The portal's objective is to increase the availability of price information for consumers, facilitate the comparison of offers across retail chains, and support informed choice. Information presented on the portal is updated on an ongoing basis, in line with data submitted by the retail chains.

The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency remains committed to the continued development of www.ekalata.gov.ge. A number of new functionalities and services are planned for the platform going forward. Among these, a mobile application for www.ekalata.gov.ge is being prepared for iOS and Android devices. Work is also under way on a geolocation functionality for retail chain outlets, which will enable consumers to locate their preferred retail locations more easily.
