In September, the cost of the cheapest food basket, comprising 13 basic products, and of the cheapest non-food basket, comprising 10 essential products, available on www.ekalata.gov.ge, changed dynamically.
The cost of the food basket stood at GEL 37.45 at the beginning of the month and decreased to GEL 35.82 by the end of the month, with its lowest value recorded on 29-30 September.
As for the basket of essential non-food products, its lowest price was recorded on September 10. It reached its lowest value of GEL 25.57 on 10 September and amounted to GEL 26.17 at the end of the reporting period.
The information portal was launched at the end of June this year. Compared with the beginning of September, the cost of the cheapest basket of 13 basic food products decreased by 4.4% by the end of the month, while that of the cheapest basket of 10 basic non-food essential products decreased by 5.3%.
www.ekalata.gov.ge enables consumers to compare prices across leading retail chains on a daily basis, create an individual basket and make informed choices.
The objective of www.ekalata.gov.ge is to strengthen consumers' access to price information, facilitate the comparison of offers across retail chains, and promote informed consumer choice. Data displayed on the portal is updated on an ongoing basis, drawing on information submitted by the participating retail chains. The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency remains committed to the continued development of www.ekalata.gov.ge. Several additional features and services are planned for future rollout, with a dedicated mobile application for iOS and Android devices currently in the final stages of development.
