An information and education meeting took place at Tbilisi Public School N145. Ana Rukhadze, Leading Specialist of the GCCA Legal Department, addressed the students on competition matters, while consumer rights protection was presented by Nutsa Putkaradze, Chief Specialist of the Consumer Rights Protection Department.
The presenters explained the importance of effective competition in ensuring quality products and services, innovation and favourable prices for consumers, and outlined examples of competition law infringements, including price fixing and abuse of a dominant position.
Representatives of the Agency also presented to the students the activities of the GCCA, together with the online resources that assist consumers in safeguarding their rights and making informed choices in everyday life.
Eto Shagulashvili, Senior Project Manager at the Agency's Training Research Centre, presented the Agency's educational web portals, namely the Online Competition Dictionary and the Ekalata portal. Online Competition Dictionary and Price Comparison Portal: www.ekalata.gov.ge
The organisation of information and education events in public schools is one of the areas of cooperation provided for in the Memorandum of Cooperation concluded between the GCCA and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The cooperation aims to raise young people's awareness of competition and consumer rights protection and to improve access to relevant knowledge. In addition to Tbilisi, meetings will be held in the following regions: Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti.
