With a view to detecting and addressing possible concentrations subject to mandatory prior notification, the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) identified four concentrations implemented in the third quarter of 2026 that may have been subject to the notification requirement.
Over the reporting period, 2,652 concentrations were registered in Georgia. Of these, 2,641 did not meet the criteria giving rise to the mandatory prior notification obligation. The remaining 11 met those criteria, including the combined annual income threshold.
Seven of these 11 concentrations fell within the exemptions provided for under competition legislation and were therefore not subject to the obligation to notify the Agency in advance. For the remaining four concentrations, the available data pointed to a probable breach of the mandatory prior notification requirement, and the Agency therefore opened proceedings.
In 2026, the GCCA has approved 12 concentrations.
For information: Under Georgian legislation, a concentration is subject to mandatory prior written notification to the GCCA where the aggregate annual income of its participants in Georgia, as reported for the financial year preceding the one in which the notification obligation arises, exceeds GEL 20 million, and the annual turnover of each of at least two of the participants exceeds GEL 5 million.
