The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) continues its efforts to raise awareness of competition and consumer rights among schoolchildren. On 19 September, GCCA representatives held information and education sessions at two public schools in Tbilisi: Public School N 141 and the Georgian-American School “Saduni”. The sessions were organised by the Agency’s Training Research Centre.
The session on competition was delivered by Ana Rukhadze, Leading Specialist at the GCCA Legal Department, and the session on consumer rights protection by Ketevan Chumburidze, Chief Specialist at the Agency’s Consumer Rights Protection Department.
The sessions introduced pupils to the fundamentals of competition and consumer rights protection. The presenters underlined the role of healthy competition in ensuring access to quality products and services at fair prices. They also examined examples of infringements of competition law and addressed the obligations of traders, the rules applicable to online sales, the right to return goods within 14 days, and warranty conditions.
Representatives of the Agency also introduced the pupils to the work of the GCCA and to the digital tools designed to help consumers protect their rights and make informed choices. Particular attention was devoted to the Agency’s educational web portal, the Online Dictionary of Competition and the price comparison platform “Ekalata”, including their functions and practical use.
Information and education activities in public schools are carried out within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation concluded between the GCCA and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The cooperation aims to raise young people’s awareness of competition and consumer rights protection and to broaden access to relevant knowledge.
