GCCA Held Educational Meetings in 15 Public Schools Across Georgia in October

The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, held informational and educational meetings at 15 public schools in Tbilisi and various regions throughout October.

Organized by the Agency’s Training Research Center, the meetings aimed to raise students’ awareness of competition policy and consumer rights protection and improve access to relevant knowledge and educational resources.

During the sessions, students were introduced to fundamental consumer rights, mechanisms for their protection, and the principles of competition policy. Discussions highlighted the importance of fair competition, examples of competition law violations, traders’ obligations, online shopping rules, the 14-day right of withdrawal without stating any reason, and statutory warranty conditions. Particular attention was also given to preventive measures aimed at avoiding potential risks associated with online shopping.

The meetings were conducted in an interactive format, featuring practical examples and Q&A sessions. Students also learned about the Agency’s activities and educational resources, including the Online Competition Glossary and the price comparison platform eKalata.gov.ge, which enables consumers to compare prices across different retail chains and make informed choices.

Holding informational and educational events in public schools is one of the areas of cooperation envisaged under the MoU between the GCCA and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The programme places particular emphasis on informing vulnerable groups, including students from ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities, and improving their access to educational opportunities.
