The National Competition Agency signed memorandums with the Austrian and Serbian competition authorities

The Georgian National Competition Agency has signed memorandums of understanding with its counterparts of Austria and Serbia, in order to promote mutual collaboration. The memorandum was signed by the Chairman of the Georgian National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze, the Director General of the Austrian Competition Authority, Natalie Harsdorf-Borsch, and the member of the Council of the Commission for the Protection of Competition of the Republic of Serbia – Čedomir Radojčić.


As Irakli Lekvinadze stated, the memorandums aim to expand bilateral collaboration. According to the chairman of the Georgian National Competition Agency, in the background when Georgia is strengthening its relations with Europe, it is very important to deepen cooperation with European countries and share experience.


Memorandums of mutual cooperation between Georgia and Austria and Georgia and Serbia were signed in Tbilisi during the 2nd international conference on Competition and Consumer Protection”. The conference was jointly organized by five regulatory bodies: The Georgian National Competition Agency, the National Bank of Georgia, the National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission of Georgia, the Communications Commission, and the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia. It began on November 16 and ended on November 18.


The event was attended by 300 delegates from 20 countries, the first person in the competition and the consumer sector from 10 different countries and representatives from the Georgian government, MPs, local and international experts, public and regulatory bodies, academia, and the business sector.


Since 2014, the Georgian National Competition Agency has signed 24 international memorandums with the competition authorities of different countries.
