Irakli Lekvinadze delivered a speech at the international conference in Albania

The Chairman of the Georgian National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze, was on a working visit to Tirana on November 23-24,  at the invitation of the Chairman of the Albanian Competition Authority, Denar Biba.


Irakli Lekvinadze spoke in detail regarding the reforms implemented in the direction of competition policy in Georgia, as well as current and completed cases, at the parallel session - International Cooperation and European Integration, in which the first persons of competition authorities from Greece, Armenia, and Hungary participated.


The Georgian National Competition Agency was established in 2014 after Georgia signed the European Association Agreement. In 2020, we have made significant improvements to competition legislation, and Georgia's competition legislation was brought into compliance with EU standards, we further strengthened our regulatory framework by introducing anti-dumping regulations in 2021 and prioritizing the protection of consumer rights in 2022. In parallel with the implemented reforms, our Agency made a number of important decisions that affected various sectors", Irakli Lekvinadze stated During his speech.


The meeting was attended by the Heads of various countries' competition authorities, as well as representatives from the OECD and UNCTAD, and industry experts. Within the framework of the event, using examples from other nations - competition policy management strategies, results, challenges, advocacy mechanisms, and opportunities for strengthening mutual collaboration were discussed.
