The Competition Agency recognized the complaint submitted in the furniture trade sector as inadmissible due to insufficient of vidence

The Georgian National Competition Agency recognized the complaint of "Bella Vetrine" LTD as inadmissible due to insufficient evidence in the furniture trade sector. The issue was concerned to the possible fact of unfair competition on the part of "Verona" LTD. In particular, misappropriation of the external appearance and damage to the reputation of the complainant company.

According to the Agency's decision, it was established, that there was no reasonable suspicion of violation of the law during the admissibility stage since there was no evidence of competition law violation. Additionally, the complainant failed to provide additional information or evidence within the specified period as requested by the Agency. As a result, the National Competition Agency considered it inappropriate to initiate an investigation.

In 2023, the Agency recognized seven complaints as inadmissible and completed six investigations, which focused on possible abuse of a dominant position, unfair competition, concerted practice, and possible restriction of competition by state administrative bodies. Out of these, in one case found no violation, one case was stopped at the request of the complainant, and in four cases reported a violation with relevant recommendations issued. The investigations concerned the motor fuel, tobacco, sea shipping, auto technical inspection, food service, and construction/infrastructure services markets. At present, the Agency is conducting research on four issues, including pharmacy, online sales of cinemas, parking lots, and food products markets.
