Unfair Competition Has Revealed in the Dispute Between Two Insurance Companies
Competition Agency of Georgia has finished the investigation, which was conducted based on the Unison company complaint toward Aldagi and has revealed the fact of unfair competition.
Based on the materials received and processed during the investigation, the spread of disseminating defamatory information with Caucasian Metals Terminal via official e-mail by the representative of Batumi regional "Aldagi Insurance Company" on "Unison Insurance Company" has confirmed. In the process of investigation, the Aldagi company confirmed the mentioned fact, and a reprimand has given to the employee. According to the Agency, this action indicates the high responsibility of the company, but the existence of internal rules does not release the company from external responsibility.
To respond to the cases of unfair competition on time by protecting the equal principles between undertakings, according to the decision of the Agency, the "insurance company Aldagi" was instructed to ensure the denial of the spread information by sending an official letter to the Caucasian Metals Terminal. To provide information on the mentioned action to the "Insurance Company Unison" and the Competition Agency of Georgia - no later than a month after the delivery of the decision.
Competition Agency has completed three investigations in 2020, in one of which revealed abuse of a dominant position (the undertaking has sanctioned), and in the others confirmed unfair competition. At this time, three investigations are underway in the Agency. During the same period, the Agency has completed five market monitoring and three are ongoing. One consent was issued for the concentration of undertakings.
