The National Competition Agency Has Confirmed A Case of Unfair Competition In the Tourism Service Sector

The National Competition Agency of Georgia has completed the investigation in the tourism sector and confirmed the fact of unfair competition. The issue was related to the dispute between two companies in Tbilisi city's tour service sector.

As a result of the materials processed by the National Competition Agency, the illegal use of identical trademarks and vehicle appearance of the applicant was revealed. According to the agency's decision, the respondent company was imposed a financial sanction and instructed to eliminate the violation of the law.
The National Competition Agency completed one investigation in 2022 related to the alleged abuse of a dominant position in the insurance/hospital sector. Despite not revealing the violation, 2 recommendations have been issued for outpatient centers.

Currently, there are 3 ongoing investigations under the National Competition Agency in fuel market related the fact of an alleged concerted action; In the translation sector - the fact of an alleged abuse of a dominant position and concerted action and in the auto service sector - the fact of an alleged restriction of competition by the administrative agency.

As well as, 3 cases with the regulatory bodies of the economy field, related to an alleged facts of concerted actions and abuse of dominant position, are in progress.
In 2022, the National Competition Agency has finished the fuel market monitoring and started the investigation. Currently, the natural/liquid gas fuel and the glass waste markets are under monitoring. In the same period, the merger of 4 companies was approved and proceedings on 2 cases are ongoing.
