Competition Agency has completed the monitoring of the wheat and bread market, the main goal of which was to study the compliance of the price of bread with the competitive environment on December 10, 2018. The study was focused on the flour and wheat markets, as they impact the bread price change.

As a result of consultative meetings with bread and flour-producing undertakings and industry associations, the Agency has identified the main directions of monitoring: 1. Bread market 2. Flour market - 3. Wheat market - wheat imports, wholesale supplies, production, wheat import routes, wheat stocks, etc. were studied.

For identifying the main reason for increasing the bread price, the Agency has studied the based cases for the increase of the bread price on December 10, 2018, and revealed that it had a systemic effect across the country. The pricing of bread has analyzed in detail and it has revealed that the increase of the bread price on December 10, 2018, was a reasonable / cost-based decision of the companies, otherwise, it would be impossible to carry out profitable economic activities.
