The Georgian National Competition Agency is implementing structural changes to improve its effectiveness

Important changes have been made to the statute of the Georgian National Competition Agency, the purpose of these changes is to increase the Agency's effectiveness and optimize its structure, which comes into force on November 1 and was made in response to the need for additional functions and increased competition policy enforcement.

The adopted changes bring the following improvements:

 - The Agency Chairman will have only one deputy instead of two.

- A new structural unit, a training and research center, has been created to implement training projects for both internal and external parties.

- The communication department is being strengthened both internationally and locally.

- The Agency has established a call center to effectively respond to and monitor incoming calls.

- The internal audit functions have been improved and financial administrative directions have been strengthened.

- The Department of Consumer Rights Protection has new functions in connection with the implementation of the Law of Georgia on "Electronic Commerce."

- Certain issues concerning confidential information and conflict of interest have been clarified

It is important to note that the changes were implemented based on the results of a functional analysis conducted within the HICD project of the USAID program. These changes do not affect the Agency's funding.

The Georgian National Competition Agency enforces the Law of Georgia on Competition, the Law of Georgia on Protection of Consumer Rights, and the Law of Georgia on Anti-Dumping Measures in Trade.
