A meeting was held between the member companies of the Georgian Employers' Association and the representatives of the National Competition Agency

A meeting was held between representatives of the business sector and the Chairman of the National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze, organised by the Georgian Employers' Association.


The Agency provided the meeting attendees with information regarding the competition policy reforms that have been implemented, the results achieved so far, and the future plans. Also, the mechanisms of protection of consumer rights, current trends and challenges were discussed.


During a meeting, Irakli Lekvinadze emphasized the importance of consumer rights protection and highlighted the high level of willingness and involvement of the trade sector to bring the existing deficiencies, which are fixed, into compliance with the law. The Agency has made efforts to strengthen competition law enforcement. The Agency has already published the results of the fuel market investigation.  In addition, the monitoring of the market for the sale of insurance products in banking institutions will soon be publicly available, which is expected to positively impact the planned reforms. By the end of the year, the investigation into the pharmaceutical market will be completed. I would like to thank the employers' association and member companies for the meeting and expressed the readiness of the Georgian National Competition Agency to actively engage in a dialogue with the business sector to discuss the planned and implemented reforms, as well as the challenges in the mentioned sector.”- Irakli Lekvinadze said at the meeting.

Today's meeting aimed to inform member companies of the Georgian Employers' Association to prepare them for the expected changes. At the same time, we would like to express our respect to the Competition Agency for their active communication with the business sector," - Elguja Meladze, President of the Georgian Employers' Association.


Around 50 participants attended the meeting, where representatives from the retail trade, medicine trade, manufacturing, and telecommunication sectors were present. A crucial aspect of the meeting was the Q&A session, where companies received competent answers to the issues that were of concern to them.
