With the support of UN Women and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), a workshop was held for employees of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA). The theme of the workshop focused on the prevention of sexual harassment and response mechanisms.
The workshop was opened by Salome Kavtaradze, Head of the Legal Department at the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), and Ketevan Shubashvili, Manager of UN Women’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme.
The objective of the workshop was to promote the formation of an equal, safe, and supportive workplace environment by discussing tools for preventing violence and sexual harassment based on international and local standards. The agenda included improving measures to eliminate gender-based discrimination, strengthening a preventive culture at the organizational level, raising awareness, overcoming stereotypical perceptions, and promoting continuous employee education.
The workshop was conducted in an interactive question-and-answer format, led by UN Women trainer Goga Khatiashvili. Participants reviewed: international standards regulating sexual harassment; practical methods for prevention and response, including identification techniques, effective response strategies, and victim-centered approaches; mechanisms for recognizing myths and stereotypes that significantly impact workplace culture; principles for handling sexual harassment cases; and ethical communication with affected individuals, including specific techniques for conducting interviews.
It is noteworthy that, in 2025, with the support of UN Women, the GCCA developed and approved a document outlining mechanisms for the prevention of and response to sexual harassment, contributing to the establishment of a safe and equitable workplace environment.
