Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Georgian National Competition Agency and Mediators Association of Georgia
Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the Georgian National Competition Agency, and Irakli Kandashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Mediators Association, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Regarding current issues in mediation and competition, the parties agreed to carry out joint activities, trainings, workshops, conferences, and other activities to raise public awareness through the involvement of various target groups. Also, under the memorandum, the parties will ensure exchanging of public information, conducting of various studies, and consultations.
„ Law of Georgia "on Mediation" came into force in 2020. Accordingly, a legislative framework has been created for both- judicial and private mediation, based on which the issues related to the mediation were regulated. As you know, in 2020, the amendments to the Law of Georgia on Competition were approved. The authority and responsibilities of the Agency have been established and improved. Also, the Law of Georgia “on Introduction of Anti-Dumping Measures in Trade”, which aims to introduce the principles of fair trade and dumping protection against local industry, entered into force. It is crucial to develop the policy of mediation and competition, introduce effective mechanisms, and inform the business sector or other target audiences about current activities. Therefore, the National Competition Agency, within its authority, through joint efforts, in various directions, is ready to cooperate actively with all stakeholders, "- said the Chairman of the Georgian National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze.
At the meeting, the heads of the Agencies discussed the action plan for strengthening relations and future activities.
