Amendments in Competition Legislation Results obtained and Challenges

On November 4-5, at the Ambassador Hotel in Kachreti, initiated by the National Competition Agency and organized by the Association Facilitation Project (AA Facility) between Georgia and the European Union, a working meeting will be held on the topic - amendments in competition legislation, results, and challenges.

The event will open by the Chairman of the National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze, Davit Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy of the Parliament, GNERC Chairman, David Narmania, Vice President of the National Bank - Nikoloz Gagua; Davit Onoprishvili - Head of the Insurance Supervision Service; Yolanta Taczynska - Project Manager of AA Facility, and Giorgi Pertaia - President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Irakli Lekvinadze, from November 4, 2020, to November 4, 2021, from the adoption of the approved amendments to the competition legislation - will present a detailed report on the completed and ongoing cases to the attendees.

Participants in the seminar: Representatives of the Parliament of Georgia, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, regulatory bodies, the National Competition Agency, legal, consulting, and business sector.

During the two-day workshop, the following issues will be discussed: new structural arrangement of the National Competition Agency, updated legislation - powers and procedural norms of the agency, enforcement of competition law in regulated sectors of the economy, the role of the court in competition legal proceedings, concentration control procedure, enforcement of anti-dumping legislation by the Competition Agency, etc.
